Store Policies


Trade Credit Policy:

Customers are limited to one (1) grocery bag or box per visit. Hardcovers are not being accepted at this time.


Trent’s Bookshelf offers trade credit for most books. Including romance, mystery, children's books, non-fiction and audio books. We also accept graphic novels for trade credit.


All books must be clean and in good condition without evidence of moisture damage and must be complete as originally issued. If it was originally issued with a dust jacket it needs to be included. If it came with a CD it needs to be included.


We do not accept for trade, encyclopedias or magazines including National Geographic. We do not accept hardcover romance, Reader's Digest Condensed books or textbooks. We also do not accept books without covers or those missing pages or otherwise not useable. Books not accepted will be recycled unless you request that they be returned. Books left for more than 3 days will be disposed of.


The amount of credit given for any particular item will be dependent on the marketability and condition. The clerk on duty at the time will have complete authority regarding the amount of trade credit offered.


Trade credit may only be used for in-store purchases. Trade credit may not be used for purchases made through the website or any other location or website. Book trade credit may only be applied to used book purchases, audio book trade credit may be used toward audio books or paper book purchase. Trade credit may be used for up to one-half of the purchase price of used merchandise excluding the tax. Occasionally selected books may be steeply discounted and not eligible for purchase with trade credit. New merchandise may not be purchased using trade credit.

Trade Policy Update


Starting April 1, 2013 I will no longer be accepting hardcover romance books for trade credit. 


We do not purchase books for cash. 


Trade Credit policies are subject to change without notice.


Payment Methods Accepted For Website Purchases


We accept, checks, money order and credit cards. Books will not be shipped until after the credit card has been charged.


If you are local and wish to pay for your purchase in store you can choose STORE PICKUP as the form of payment. Your book will then be held for you at the counter for up to 3 days. You may then come into the store and purchase using your available trade credit in the usual manner.

If for any reason you need to return a book that you purchased from the website, please call 916.683.2665 within 15 days of receiving your book(s).

In store purchases of used books are final except in the case of a gift.
